New York, NY
Completion Date 2001
Located on East 38th Street between Second and Third Avenues, this new 20-story, 104,000-square-foot luxury residential rental project is a neighbor to other high-end luxury residential buildings on the same block. The site assembles five parcels to the west and a light and air easement to the south. Among several unique features is the architectural approach and treatment of its facades. Above the second floor, the building is sheathed with an attractive combination of brick and Alucobond (aluminum) lightweight prefabricated panels (hung on a typical flat slab concrete frame), giving it a distinctive presence. The building’s base of slate supports an intriguing glass and stainless steel canopy. Twelve stories of the west façade cantilever over an adjacent 5-story building, offering yet another interesting attraction.
